"Rhapsodecaphrenia" (Rhapsody + Dodecaphony + Schizophrenia) represents a musical universe in a state of creative crisis, an attempt to use "docecaphonic" material in a "rhapsodic" fashion, two ideas which could seem to be opposed or unrelated to one another, as in dissociative identity disorder (colloquially called "schizophrenia"). This universe's uses highly-chromatic and/or twelve-tone rows as melodic, harmonic, or motivic material and re-combines it in a variety of ways, ranging from dense clusters, aggressive rhythmic ideas, harmonic sequences, polyphony, and lyrical melodies. At times, these personalities are cooperative with or opposed to one another, yet are actively seeking to work against the strict laws of their universe to create their music.
