Lay me down in an open pasture
Let summer's breath wash over my face
And evening's sigh bathe me in chill dew
Lay my body down beneath the old oak tree
Let the sound of songbirds soothe my soul to sleep
And the silent footsteps of twilight slip by
Lay my broken body down beside the still river
Let the incense of ages past wander through my lungs
And the taste of time meander across my dry lips
Lay my joyful broken body down
To rest
And chant rejoice
Let me leave my burdens
And live forevermore in love
